Where should these boys go?! The whole sports world knows of the epidemic of a free agency class coming into fruition this summer. Therefore, I am placing you in the shoes of GM and asking, "where should these boys go?" If you were a GM of one of these teams (ANY of them), what moves would you make from this day on to get the player(s) you desire. May the best team win!
Here's a quick look at the top players in discussion:
Lebron James
Dwayne Wade
Chris Bosh
Amare Stoudamire
Joe Johnson
Carlos Boozer
David Lee
Rudy Gay
With the moves the Bulls have made, I think they have the strongest contention to compete from this year on! They are still so young and coachable. As much as I hate to admit it, this team is not built for Dwayne (unfortunately) for there is a All-Star ball handler already in Rose. I would like to see a big there who can help Noah, like a Boozer. I think he may be a sleeper along with Johnson. Boozer doesn't mind playin big when necessary and is a physical player. Team him up with LeBron, they don't resign Miller. Dwayne gets Bosh down in Miami, and give Shaq a call. Hoping Miamis picks in the second round can hold up to help without having to go recruiting for another big. With the possibility of a third player Joe Johnson would be a nice swingman option to have. He's not worth a max contract, however. Beasley would then come off the bench. Amare, I see you in New York back to the running and gunning if they can find the right point man to get you the ball and create FOR you. I don't believe him to be a difference maker without Steve. Don't think he can create alone. Phoenix/New York is best bet
ReplyDeleteAs a Knicks fan I seriously want them to land a big fish but we have too much rebuilding to do. If I was the GM of the Knicks of course I would make a push for Lebron, Wade, and Bosh but if we cant land either I would go at Amare and Joe Johnson. Both have a good history with coach D'Antoni and would love to play in a major market like NY. Next thing the Knicks need to go is go after a point guard. Now I like Toney Douglass but he isnt a starting NBA PG. I believe they should target restricted free agent Kyle Lowry, he shows the ability to run an offense and is also a tenacious defender. Also Houston wont want to spend too much on him since they have Aaron Brooks and are looking to try to get Chris Bosh.
ReplyDeleteIf all else fails you throw money at Rudy Gay and hope that Memphis has enough faith in Xavier Henry that they dont match the offer.
If I was the owner of the New Jersey Nets this is how I would land LeBron and another top FA. First, the foundation is there. I have a PG in Devin Harris that can shoot and play tough D. A young Star Center in Brook Lopez that will get the job done for years to come. And good young role players like Terrance Williams, Derrick Favors, and Josh Boone. Then sign either Joe Johnson or David Lee(either would fit) to NON-max offers and let them know they will be the 2nd or 3rd option and the pressure will not be on them too much. And for good measure sign a sharp shooter like J.J. redick or Kyle Korver. Finally, Avery Johnson is a proven winning coach and player that will instill the necessary tough D. As a team LeBron has to be impressed with this young nucleus. Then explain to Lebron that my business partner, the Russian playboy, Mikhail Prokhorov, has deep pockets and international pull that will make him a worldwide ICON. In two years we are moving to Brooklyn and be part of the largest US market(just ask Jay-Z). When it is all said and done he will have his own statue right in the heart of Brooklyn(and won't have to share a statue with MJ in Chicago).
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the only strong competition in East will be against D-Wade and Chris Bosh's Heat. Those battles alone will generate unheard of ratings and revenue.
So Mr. James, do we have a deal?
